TUSCANY – VILLA VIVIANI
Florence is a veritable open-air museum rich in artistic treasures. Among these, the Church of San Salvatore in Ognissanti, which rises in its namesake square in the very heart of the city. The church was founded in the mid-13th century by a religious order, the “Umiliati” friars, who used the waters of the nearby Arno River to process wool. During the 14th century, it was enriched by precious works of art, such as Giotto’s Maestà (Virgin and Child enthroned, surrounded by angels and saints), currently housed in the Uffizi Gallery, which was placed on the high altar; other masterpieces, a fresco of the Crucifixion by Taddeo Gaddi, for instance, were added later on. Just imagine the grandeur and magnificence of a church so breathtakingly beautiful! Desirée and Antonio chose to tie the knot by holding a solemn, emotional religious ceremony in this sacred venue on the Arno River. After the photo shoot, set against the backdrop of some of Florence’s most stunning views, they hosted their reception at Villa Viviani, which overlooks the entire city and offers amazing views of Brunelleschi’s dome of the Baptistery. Rich in history and ideally suited for hosting a wedding with a view, Villa Viviani served as a perfect setting for a glamorous cocktail reception, accompanied by sophisticated music, followed by a romantic candlelit dinner served beneath the cypress trees, especially illuminated for the occasion. It was an exclusive event straight out of a fairytale, made even more magical by Florence’s many lights flickering below.
