ISLAND OF ELBA – MONTEFABBRELLO
Green Wedding
Simone and Elena fell in love when they were very young and have been living together for some 20 years. Together with their lovely daughters, they decided to get married on Elba Island. The happy couple chose a special location: the hamlet known as Le Prade or Schiopparello (in the Portoferraio municipality), where they were both born and spent part of their childhood, and two venues close to one another, Podere I Sassi and the Ristoro Montefabbrello. Their wedding simply had to be a country-style and green wedding: few flowers combined with textiles, olive trees, bales of hay, and other elements reminiscent of a time when the countryside was a vital means of livelihood. The newlyweds’ families and friends were delighted with the warm, cozy ambiance created by the decor and set-up of the cocktail receptions and dinner, and the event was packed with fun and friendship. Every set-up was carefully designed and crafted down to the smallest detail: from the civil wedding ceremony to the lounge areas of the cocktail party, from the mise en place of the dinner to the rum, chocolate, and cigar corners, the sugar-coated almonds1 and wedding favor corners, and finally the cutting of the wedding cake. Magic, dreams, Love… all framed by a truly exclusive and unique setting such as Elba Island.
1 In Italy, sugar-coated almonds are called “confetti” and traditionally given to guests at weddings. Nowadays, many weddings feature a table especially for the “confetti”.
